Information for the public on Professional Firearm's Training
If you have not received your training from a certified professional instructor, chances
are you have been taught some unsafe and possibly dangerous shooting habits. We
urge everyone who has not received professional instruction, (even if you have been
shooting "all your life") to do so for your own safety and the safety of your loved ones.
We understand that many family members and loved ones believe they can safely teach
others the proper way to handle a firearm, but the truth is that modern guns and
shooting techniques have evolved beyond the expertise of the weekend hunter, and
recreational shooter. Just as you would not trust your automobile to the backyard
mechanic, you should not trust your firearm instruction to anyone who is not a certified
professional instructor.
Before taking firearm lessons from anyone give them this short quiz: Instructor
Knowledge
If you are looking for a firearms instructor in your area, send us an email with the type
of firearm and the type of instruction (Sport shooting, self defense, target, etc.) you are
interested in, where you live, (city, state, and zip please) and the distance you would be
willing to travel for instruction. We will send you a list of current member certified
instructors from our database that fit your criteria.
All National Association of Firearm Instructors adhere to our Code of Conduct.
Additionally, all of our Member Instructors adhere to, at a minimum, our standardized
set of safety rules.
